Bloomsburg Falls to Caldwell in Women's Basketball

BLOOMSBURG- Freshman Bianca Lee (Temple Hills, MD/ Archbishop Carroll) scored a game-high 27 points and grabbed 11 rebounds but the Bloomsburg University women's basketball team fell to Caldwell College 69-64 at the Patriot-Inn Huskies Tip-Off Classic.
The Huskies jumped out to an early 14-8 advantage when Lee converted on a lay-up with 13:25 remaining in the half. However, the Cougars responded with a 12-0 run, capped off by a jumper by Shannon Coyle to give Caldwell a 20-14 lead with 6:45 remaining in the first half. Caldwell would go into the locker room with a 28-21 advantage.
Caldwell held the lead for the entire second half and led 67-58 with just 31 seconds remaining in the game. However, the Huskies went on a 6-0 run and cut the lead to 67-64 with just two seconds left. Kirby Johnson (Woodstown, NJ/ Woodstown) converted a jumper to cut the lead to 67-60. After two missed free throws, the Huskies regained possession and cut the lead 67-62 on two free throws by Lee. Lee then stole the ball and converted a lay-up to cut the lead to 67-64. However, after a Bloomsburg foul, Caldwell's Amy Ransom converted two free throws to seal the victory.
Colleen Kegerreis (Schuykill Haven/ Schuykill Haven ) finished with double-double, scoring 17 points and grabbing 12 rebounds, while Kelly Joyce (Ashland/ Cardinal Brennan) finished with 11 points.
Bloomsburg, 1-1, will host District of Columbia on Saturday at 3 p.m. Lock Haven, who defeated District of Columbia 73-60 in the first game, will play Caldwell at 1 p.m.
